Bożena Ewa Gierus (1944-2021)
Ewa Gierus will always be in our hearts.
Gierus, Bozena Ewa, November 3, 1944 – January 4, 2021, passed away peacefully in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Bozena Ewa left this world at the age of 76 years.
Born in Ostrowiec, Poland was the oldest of 3 daughters ( Bozena, Anna i Irena) of Irena and Jan Grabowski. After finishing high school she moved to Warsaw to study at University; Faculty of Technology of Food Science. At University she met and married on March 28, 1970, her only love, Marek Gierus.
They emigrated to Canada and lived in Toronto where Alex and Mark, their two sons were born. The family moved west to Calgary in 1979. She was working in her profession in a food laboratory for over twenty years. Sadly, the marriage did not last forever. Bozena never remarried.
She was a passionate learner, taking courses on everything and anything. She was Secular Humanitarian by faith & Catholic by cultural heritage. In her late fifties, she finished and graduated from nursing college and worked as a nurse until she turned 72. Her inquisitive nature and dedication to family is her living legacy. She would like you to remember her unconditional love.

Bozena is survived by her two sons Alexander ( Bogusia ) Gierus and Mark Gierus of Calgary, grandsons: Jakub, Robert, Konrad, and Gabriel Gierus; Elliott and Alden Gierus, her sister Irena Faryna of Poland, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Irena and Jan, and her beloved sister and best friend Anna Kuchniewicz of Calgary.
